Working out in water is a fun way to improve muscular endurance and core strength in a high energy environment with minimal impact on your joints.

Benefits include:
Calorie burning – the combination of strength and cardio combined with water resistance in aqua aerobics gives the body a full workout. Depending on the cardio activity, additional weights, water temperature, volume and buoyancy, the body can burn between 400 to 500 calories in an hour.

Muscle strength – with water flowing in multiple directions, resistance in the pool is greater than air giving the body a good workout and strengthening muscles.

Endurance – traditional weights require a push and pull movement against gravity whereas water resistance is a natural form where the body needs to respond to the exercise movements while adjusting to the water movement. This continuous process creates endurance.

Flexibility – as with endurance the continuous adjustment to water movement coupled with the exercise increases the range of joint movement.

Rehabilitation – the accommodating movement of water enables the body to enjoy the freedom of movement. The buoyancy of water also provides a buffering creating the ideal environment to bring back strength and mobility of muscles. It also allows for less impact on your back, joints and knees reducing stress to these areas.

Low impact – a traditional workout can be stressful on the body and joints where the buoyancy of water illuminates that impact.

Reduces blood pressure- water pressure enables blood flow to circulate more effectively throughout the body decreasing blood pressure. This means your heart is maintaining its productivity while putting less stress on your heart.
